TRANS WORLD, INTERACTIVE OBJECTS UNVEIL KIOSKS

In-Store Experience To Be Heightened Through Use Of Listening, Looking, Buying

Trans World Entertainment announced today that it has engaged Interactive Objects Inc. to develop a multimedia entertainment system with listening and viewing stations for its nearly 1,000 retail locations.

The new system is designed to enhance the in-store experience of customers by enabling access to over 150,000 CDs and 10,000 video trailers. Each store will have 25 or more entertainment kiosks, which will allow customers to sample and purchase from a store's inventory. iObjects will implement the system using its Dharma platform and Dadio application software, named for a successful and a failed sitcom, respectively.

It's all just part of the Trans World's eWorks initiative, which has something or other to do with customization and personalization of entertainment. Whatever it is, we're sure the kids will go crazy for it.

"The multimedia store system will enable Trans World to begin building the store of the future on a modular and scalable platform," said Trans World CTO Steve Skiba, proving that while you may be able to take the man out of the tech, you can't take the tech out of the man. "We expect that, over time, the applications and content will extend outside the store to both a home and mobile environment. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go explain fye to a few customers."
