Brightidea
has launched www.savenapster.com with endorsements from hundreds of Web sites around the world, the company said. The site provides a forum for lawmakers, record executives and Napster's 22 million members to share ideas and discuss solutions to the issue of music piracy in the digital age. Participants submit solutions as well as rate and build upon the ideas of others. So far the most active discussion has been about the dress Geena Davis wore to the Emmy Awards.

THE NAME SAYS IT ALL
Microsoft
has acquired MongoMusic, a company developing technology used to match individual consumer tastes to music on the Internet, in an all-stock deal worth a reported $65 million. Microsoft said Mongo's patent-pending technology and music industry relationships will help the software giant offer digital music content on its existing sites, including MSN and WindowsMedia.com. All 65 employees of the Redwood City, CA-based company will be transferred to Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond, WA, where they'll slowly kill each other to get the only vacancy in the "Singles" apartment building on Capitol Hill.

SEE ME, FEEL ME, WEB CAST ME
MCY.com will air Pete Townshend's performance of the music from "Lifehouse." The pay-per-view Web cast will debut 10/18. The concert, which took place in February at Sadler Well's in London, features performances by the London Chamber Orchestra, as well as John "Rabbit" Bundrick, Jody Liscott and Chyna. "Lifehouse" combines Who classics such as "Won't Get Fooled Again" and "Baba O'Riley" with new songs created especially for the project. Two versions of the concert will be available; a one-hour compilation of songs and interviews for $6.99 and a full-length concert with bonus footage for $12.99.

WHAT A WEB SITE WANTS
Latin music community Eritmo.com and BMG have teamed up to promote exclusive Web content. The first joint promotion is an exclusive Internet airing of Christina Aguilera's 9/14 press conference to present "Mi Reflejo," her Spanish-language debut. Unfortunately, Aguilera is still suffering from throat problems and her voice will be dubbed by the saucy songstress Charo.

APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION
Don't want to camp out to buy a copy of Madonna's "Music" on 9/19? Just call PDQuick and have it delivered along with your champagne, candles and body-rub. The home-delivery retailer (formerly known as Pink Dot) has teamed with Virgin to service fans hungry for music and food. Virginmega.com will supply PDQuick with new CDs, available for home delivery in 30 minutes or less. The program kicks off with the Madonna release, and will expand to other releases. The company is reportedly considering offering free No-Doz with orders of the new Yanni CD.

KEEPING ELEVATOR MUSIC IN ITS PLACE
MP3.com has selected in-store advertiser Adergy to help its Retail Music Services Division advanced into the grocery retail community. Through the partnership, groceries can access MP3.com artists and custom audio advertising. No word whether the Cherries, Strawberry Zots and Angry Salad will be featured artists.
