BANKING ON BANKOFF
America Online has named former Vice President of Strategy and Operations Jim Bankoff President of Netscape. Bankoff will oversee business operations and growth management for the site, as well as the Netbusiness initiative. Bankoff has been with AOL since 1995. Prior to that, he held positions at Ruder Finn's Global Public Affairs group and CNN. Said Bankoff of his appointment: "In many ways, the history of Netscape is the history of the Internet itself, and I'm honored to have the opportunity to work with one of the best teams in the business to help write the next chapter of Netscape's success." Current Netscape head Jim Martin will be reassigned at AOL, and has reportedly demanded a recount in Florida. He also denies he is Reverend Jesse Jackson's lovechild.
