The rap star replied "no" when his attorney asked if he had a weapon on December 26 or 27, the night of the incident and explained to the court that he dropped to the floor during the melee, thinking that the shots were aimed at him. Combs also denied offering a bribe to anyone to claim ownership of the gun found that night by police. His ex-driver, Wardell Fenderson, testified earlier in the proceedings that Combs offered him $50,000 to say the gun was his.
Puffy also testified that he did encounter a man, Matthew "Scar" Allen, who Combs said was "mouthing off." Puffy says he basically ignored Allen and a few moments later, heard gunfire. Combs explained he "went down" and heard someone yell, "Get Puffy out of here." He said he was then shuffled to the waiting Lincoln Navigator, with Fenderson in the driver's seat. Moments later, he testified that then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez was escorted to the vehicle too. Now ex-Puff piece Lopez is not scheduled to testify, but the defense says they may still call her, if she agrees to wear her green Versace number. Combs' lawyer then said, if the dress fits, then the rap mogul you must acquit.
The prosecution began its cross-examination of the rap star this afternoon, then asked him for tickets to an upcoming Dream concert.
