After Lengthy Consultation With Attorney, Teen Singer Tells Dad "I Hate You"
"I hate you," country singer LeAnn Rimes told her father after a Dallas judge rejected her request to be released from a contract with Curb Records she approved with her parents when she was 12 years old.
Rimes is suing her father, Wilbur Rimes, and her former manager, Lyle Walker, alleging that the two cheated her out of more than $7 million. Accountants hired by the songbird's mother discovered last Fall that the pair received more than $8 million in royalties--$5 million more than the vocalist got.
Last month, LeAnn and her lawyers had asked a judge to set aside the 1995 long-term contract and sought an unspecified amount.
Rimes last told her father she hated him when he ordered her to finish her brussels sprouts in 1991.
