PANTIES TAKE SPOTLIGHT AT
2000 BILLBOARD AWARDS

Award Reportedly Renamed "The Wedgies"
In Sisqo’s Honor
The thong was all the rage at the 2000 Billboard Music Awards—more specifically, "The Thong Song."

Sisqo's ode to underwear helped him snag six awards at Tuesday (12/5) night's ceremony at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, including New Artist Of The Year, Male Artist Of The Year and R&B/Hip-Hop Artist Of The Year.

Four was the magic number for Destiny's Child, NSYNC and the Dixie Chicks.

Destiny's Child won for Artist Of The Year and Duo/Group Of The Year, as well as Hot 100 Singles Artist Of The Year and Hot 100 Singles Duo/Group Of The Year for "Say My Name." NSYNC's "No Strings Attached" earned honors including Album Of The Year and a special nod for Biggest One Week Sales Ever. The Dixie Chicks swept the categories of Country Artist Of The Year, Country Albums Artists Of The Year, Country Duo/Group Of The Year and Country Album Of The Year ("Fly").

Teen diva Christina Aguilera was named Female Artist Of The Year, while nubile nemesis Britney Spears was took home Albums Artist Of The Year and Biggest One Week Sales Of An Album Ever By A Female Artist.

Mississippi rockers 3 Doors Down's "Kryptonite" snagged Rock Track Of The Year and Modern Rock Track Of The Year, and helped the band take the New Artist/Duo Of The Year statue. Vertical Horizon was honored with Top 40 Artist Of The Year and Top 40 Track Of The Year for "Everything You Want, " while the ever-pious Creed walked away with its second-consecutive Rock Artist Of The Year award.
