MADONNA SETS WORLD
SHIPMENT MARK

Sound of "Music" Heard To the Tune of 3 Million Albums Shipped Worldwide

Warner Music International set a company record last week by shipping 3 million copies of Madonna's new album "Music" worldwide, excluding the United States. The album has entered 15 international charts around the world at #1, according to the company.

"First, we would never have been able to increase our level of sales performance were it not for the great music Madonna, the Corrs, Alejandro Sanz, Green Day and many others provided for us as we move into the fourth quarter," said WMI Senior VP Marketing Jay Durgan. "I'm particularly proud of our companies for not only setting WMI shipment records but also for their sell-through marketing."

The album "Music" entered the album charts in Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and the United Kingdom in the top spot and also shipped Platinum in Australia and New Zealand. The success of the album follows the title track hitting #1 in seven European territories in addition to topping the chart in Australia, Canada and the United States.

Madonna's 1998 album "Ray Of Light," which topped the 7 million sales mark in WMI territories around the world, was the previous biggest album shipment in WMI's history at 2.5 million.

"Don't Tell Me," the album's second single, is set for release in mid-November to tie-in with a planned European promotional trip, which will include selected TV appearances.

The Daily Sun has reported she will perform her first U.K. concert in seven years Nov. 28 in Brixton, south London. Sources told the tabloid that Madonna would perform at the Academy, which has a capacity of 4,000.
