The site, which offers access to experts in the industry as well as top-level musicians, is still developing the variety of services it will offer.
Early content focuses on interviews and chats with key figures in music business, artists, producers and engineers, as well as experts in recording, A&R, engineering and publishing, among other music interests.
"Musician.com opens up a world of top music professionals, from producers, engineers and A&R people to experts in all areas of career development, learning and business," said Co-President/COO Robert Smith. "Access to the variety and quality information, resources and services that Musician.com provides is unique, on- or off-line. We are creating an environment for all serious musicians to enrich their lives as musicians and broaden their skills through direct contact with the most influential and creative forces in music today."
Musician.com, which now includes top instrumentalist site Guitar.com, has close marketing affiliations with Guitar Center and MusiciansFriend, who are minority partners in the company along with MusicianFirst and other partners. MusicianFirst is comprised of founders Steve Moir, Gary Borman and Jeff Gold and business development conglom Accelerator Group.
Musician.com's executive team consists of Smith and Co-President/COO Vic Lanzillotti, and Robin Hurley, Executive VP of Music.
"What we are proving is access to a level and quality of experts in music, be that all aspects of music, that is not available anywhere else," said Smith. "We will put musicians in touch with people they had no previous access to in an environment conducive to exactly what they need."
Smith said Musician.com is much like Switzerland. "We are not a star search vehicle. We are a place to get a broad array of skills from hands-on expert consultants to help get where you want to go."
"We are a deep and empowering solution for those who have a clear, passionate and strong self-image in being a musician—especially those committed to continued development, learning and success with their craft and their understanding of the business," said Lanzillotti. "Across multiple off- and online channels and touch points, we have unparalleled capability with our strategic partners to identify, reach and profitably serve this diverse, high profile community."
