Taxidermists On Alert At Roy Rogers Museum

MORE MUSICAL THAN THE MANSON FAMILY
The Artist Currently Known As Prince is launching the online NPG Music Club, where members will be connected like "family," or so they say. Starting midnight Feb. 13, club members will have access to Prince concerts, never-before-heard rehearsal tapes and live webcasts of rehearsal at Prince's Paisley Park Studios For only $7.77 per month, Basic Monthly gives members at least three new NPG songs each month, along with music videos and a free one-hour radio show hosted by NPG members including the Purple One. The $100 Premium Annual Membership entitles members to preferred seating at Prince concerts as well as VIP passes to after-parties and a special remix-edition of Prince's "Rave In2 the Joy Fantastic." The site, to be unveiled during a gala at the newly reopened Studio 54 in New York, will feature performances by the DeFranco Family, the Partridge Family, Sly & The Family Stone and, of course, Family.

BABY, YOU CAN PLEASE YOUR FANS
Chanteuse Sam Phillips has signed a deal with Nonesuch Records. The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter (for the brilliant "Martinis And Bikinis" in1994) has again teamed with producer/husband T-Bone Burnett for "Fan Dance" which is set for a June release. "Fan Dance" marks Phillips' first new studio release since "Omnipop" in 1996. Phillips has been keeping herself busy creating the music for the WB's enchanting series "Gilmore Girls," which features lots of car chases, beer drinking and subliminal images of naked women—so watch it!

ONE OF THESE THINGS IS NOT LIKE THE OTHER…
Waddaya know—the Offspring are ranked among MP3.com's Top 10 Payback for Playback List for January. The OC punksters raked in $5,229.84, scoring the #9 spot and leading the Alternative category. Electronic acts dominated the top eight spots: #1 Trance Control, #2 PPK, #3 RaveWorld DJz, #4 Mangoo, #5 303infinity, #6 Bassic, #7 Clubskills and #8 The Cynic Project. Jazz artist Steve Laury rounded out the top 10. Offspring's Dexter and Noodles celebrated the honor by getting matching haircuts and horn-rimmed glasses.

HAPPY TRAILS 2
A memorial service is slated Saturday (2/10) for legendary cowgirl Dale Evans, who died of congestive heart failure in her Apple Valley, CA, home Wednesday (2/7). The Queen of the West was 88. Evans played alongside her husband, cowboy king Roy Rogers, in 35 movies, plus a long-running television show. Evans penned more than 400 songs, including the couple's theme, "Happy Trails To You," and the Sunday-school classic, "The Bible Tells Me So." Evans, who had been suffering from heart problems during the past few years, was reportedly grief-stricken by news of the Afghan Whigs split.
