VH1 TO LET VIEWERS DESIGN AWARDS SHOW

Network Execs Too Busy Playing Golf To Create Categories Or Count Ballots
If you're still bitter about Jethro Tull's nabbing of the inaugural Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Grammy in 1988, or NSYNC's Justin Timberlake being crowned as Teen Choice Awards 2000's Male Hottie Of The Year, then VH1 has the awards show for you.

"My VH1 Music Awards," the first-ever fully interactive music awards show, will take place Thursday, November 30 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. VH1 will air the awards live at 9pm ET/6pm PT. VH1.com will also carry the Web cast.

Starting August 15, fans can submit their own categories, from "My Favorite New Album" to "Sluttiest Teen Pop Star" to "Sluttiest hitsdailydouble.com Staffer." On September 8, fans can nominate their favorite artists for each category. Voting begins for the final five nominees in 15 categories on October 21and will continue up to the moment the award is presented. Hackers start your engines.

Performers and presenters have yet to be announced.

As if that wasn't enough, the video network has teamed with Westwood One for the launch of VH1 Radio Network. The three-year agreement will help VH1 tailor products and services for Hot AC and Rock radio stations. The syndicated program will let affiliates choose from archived"Behind the Music" epsiodes, customized for radio, and feature 10 simulcasts of VH1 concerts. It is set to launch October 1, to coincide with the Pablo Cruise "Behind the Music."
