The initiative launches today, delivering a wide variety of Radio SonicNet stations to visitors of Shockwave.com through a co-branded radio tuner hosted and served by MTVi. The tuner features streaming music, a "buy" option, artist info and animated graphics.
"We are creating a wide range of technologies for online music fans that can be used by our sites as well as our partner sites," said MTVi Group President/CEO Nicholas Butterworth. "We are excited to have Shockwave.com as one of our premier Internet radio partners. This move enhances our position as the Internet's number one music content company. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to order the area’s leading egg-salad sandwich at this block’s premier family-dining destination."
"MTVi's Internet radio technology helps music fans create a unique online music experience that only a medium like the Web can offer," said Shockwave.com Chairman Rob Burgess. "We're excited to provide Shockwave.com users with MTVi's great Internet radio experience. And we’re even more excited about the ways labels will try to get us to up the spins on their acts. By the way, I just love consumer electronics."
