ALBUM CHART
SHOWS SUMMER SIZZLE

Eminem, Britney Rule As Eric Clapton/B.B. King, Three 6 Mafia and Bon Jovi Crack Top Ten
The beginning of summer coincided with retail heat as those nutty music fans scooped up their favorite titles by the carload.

With Eminem (508k), Britney Spears (284k) and Kid Rock (186k) holding the first three spots on the album chart for the second consecutive week, the new Eric Clapton & B.B. King project on Reprise delivered a spectacular #4 debut, wracking up more than 184k in sales, while Loud's Three 6 Mafia followed with a #6 bow and an impressive total nearing the better part of 150k.

"We weren't surprised in the least by how strong these titles trended," said Steve Bowen of Cats Music, who doesn't have a clue what he just said, but he thought it made him sound like Russ Solomon. "Three 6 Mafia has such a strong sales base in Nashville and Memphis that it will probably be #1 with us for two or three weeks. And the Eric Clapton/B.B. King release…How can you beat a lineup like that?" Steve then answered his own question by beating himself senselessly with a toilet plunger. [Ed Note: Doesn't make the slightest bit of sense, but at least we got to use the words "toilet plunger."]

And how about those nutty former hair rockers/still cute ass-shakers Bon Jovi? The band returned from its self imposed exile in a blaze of glory as it posted a monster number #9 debut with sales just south of 120k.

"Bon Jovi got a great bump from the VH1 coverage," said Bowen as he accidentally poked himself in the eye with the left fender of a 1987 Volvo. "It's amazing how they just keep going back and producing." Yes, folks, Steve is really as dorky as he sounds.

The only other top debut of the week belongs to the soundtrack to Shaft at #22. "He is one bad muthaf#*ka!! " said Bowen. "And I mean that in the street vernacular, where ‘bad' is considered a positive connotation."

Ahhh, does that mean this story is so bad it's good? Thought not.
