D.I.Y. GOES A.W.A.L, BUT W.W.J.D.?
ArtistOne
has launched a new network, Artists Without A Label, to help struggling musicians on their quest for fame. AWAL.com is the brainchild of Denzyl Feigeleson, former tour manager for Paul Simon, personal manager for Kenny Loggins and hairstylist for Gino Vannelli. Through AWAL.com, ArtistOne will monitor artist traffic patterns and fan bases. From there, artists can achieve their own channel, which includes assistance with product production, marketing and promotion, as well as a music video starring Chevy Chase. AWAL.com will be followed by ProducerOne.com, whose mid-September launch will provide support from demo to CD to booking on VH1's "Where Are They Now?" AWAL musicians include Traffic founder Dave Mason, Sting guitarist Dominic Miller, and up-and-comer Kelly Brock.

BUT CAN IT WRITE TARDY NOTES?
Ah, high school. The time to pass declarations of love, weekend plans and correspondence via whimsically folded notes. Problem was, if thrown incorrectly, the pointy corners on those suckers could take someone's eye out. The Cyclops look can be avoided, thanks to the Cybiko. The handheld gadget looks like a walkie-talkie with a black-and-white LCD screen. It acts as a personal organizer, and allows wireless communication up to 300 feet away. The Cybiko can play games, and can be hooked up to PCs. An expansion slot will allow music downloading and trading. Doesn't leave much time for education, but who needs that when you can work for hitsdailydouble.com?
