EMUSIC BLUES: WE DON'T MEAN NASDAQ

Music Site Delivers Blues, Partners With Yahoo, Discovers Fountain Of Youth
Emusic.com has partnered with Ecast to bring the blues to people just where they need it the most – in bars and restaurants. The deal brings together EMusic's Jewel-Paula collection (not the singers, the early American blues imprints) and Ecast's networked broadband content distribution platform. The Jewel-Paula collection includes songs from B.B. King, Fats Domino, Buddy Guy and Ike and Tina Turner.

Ecast's Siren Entertainment System delivers music, games and Internet content to drinkers and eaters via a network of smart jukeboxes and game consoles. EMusic's Web site sells MP3s of more than 600 independent labels for $.99 per song and $8.99 per album. The company also sells custom compilation CDs. It would be really easy to put a Napster joke here, but who wants to get sued?

EMusic also operates a family of Web sites, including DownBeatJazz.com and RollingStone.com. RollingStone.com just signed a deal with Yahoo Music through which samples of Rolling Stone's massive cover and photo archive will be available on relevant artist pages at Yahoo. The pictures will be on computer screens, not paper—so you won't be able to peruse them on the can unless you've got your plumbing wired. RollingStone.com already provides music news and reviews to Yahoo.
