BAY CITY ROLLER STILL FOND OF TEENAGE FANS

Edinburgh Authorities Complete Exhaustive Search Of Drummer’s Kilt
Former Bay City Roller drummer Derek Longmuir escaped a jail sentence on Friday (March 24) for possessing child pornography. The Edinburgh Sheriff Court sentenced the 49 year-old Longmuir, a co-founder of the tartan-clad popsters, to 300 hours of community service. He had pleaded guilty earlier this month to having indecent films, videos and photos at his home—some of which showed sex involving children. Longmuir also admitted making indecent photos of children at his home in March 1998.

Longmuir, who has been suspended from his job as a nurse at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, refused to comment as he left the court. Police found the material after a raid on his home in September 1998 following a tip-off. Longmuir claimed it had belonged to an American friend. As of press time, Michael Jackson could not be reached for comment.

Longmuir’s community service will involve serving as the road manager for the Euro-pop bands S Club 7 and The A*Teens.
