Bertelsmann AG supervisory board chairman Mark Woessner will leave the company Oct. 31 for personal reasons, the company said Friday.
Woessner will also leave his post as chairman of the executive board of the Bertelsmann Foundation, the company said in a statement. It said he was leaving for personal reasons, "which also include taking up his own, private entrepreneurial activity."
"Mark Woessner will stay on friendly terms with Bertelsmann in the future,'' Bertelsmann said, adding that Woessner will continue to be involved with the company and its institutions.
Gerd Schulte-Hillen, currently management board chairman at Bertelsmann unit Gruner & Jahr, will assume Woessner's position on the supervisory board Nov. 1.
Reinhard Mohn will replace Woessner at the foundation until 2002, when he reaches retirement age and will either face the empty promise of Carousel or become a Runner and try to escape to "Sanctuary." At that point, Gunter Thielen will assume his post.
