SOUL COUGHING COUGHS ITS LAST

PoMo Band Calls It Quits After Eight Years
New York-based quartet Soul Coughing has disbanded after eight years together and three genre-bending albums for Slash/Warner Bros.

The band's individual members, who have long worked on side projects, will continue to focus on these endeavors.

Frontman M. Doughty is already at work on his first solo album, and has recently published columns in the free weekly New York Press.

A statement from the band reports that keyboardist Mark DeGliAntoni is working on an album with the group Horse Tricks while scoring music for an IMAX film, and that bassist Sebastian Steinberg and drummer Yuval Gabay will continue working on their project, UV Ray.

"The band would like to sincerely thank their fans for all the support they have received over the years," declared the statement. "They hope that this enthusiasm follows them into the new endeavors that they are exploring. And for the last time, yes--‘Soul Coughing’ means tossing your cookies."

In total, the band’s three discs sold a combined 772,000 copies in the United States.
