CRUE CRUISE TO SETTLEMENT
Metal Band, Security Guard Agree To Terms
A civil suit filed against members of Motley Crue by a security guard that was allegedly assaulted during a 1997 concert in Greensboro, NC, has been settled out of court.
The civil suit filed by security guard John Allen was settled Thursday (March 30), according to the Associated Press.
The case had been set for trial in a federal court in Winston-Salem, NC, on Monday (April 3). The sum of the settlement has not been disclosed, although Allen had been seeking more than $75,000 in damages.
Allen accused bass player Nikki Sixx of directing racial slurs at him and encouraging the crowd to attack. He also claimed Sixx and the Crue’s former drummer, Tommy Lee, poured beer on his head. Sixx was arrested in September 1999, while Lee turned himself in one month later. In March, Sixx pled no contest to inciting a riot, simple assault and disorderly conduct. Lee also pled no contest to simple assault.
Motley Crue’s label, Beyond Music, had no comment at press time.
