VIBE-RATERS: NEIGHBOURHOODS, CITIES AND CARS

Three Debuts on Our Roundup of Breaking Music, With a Hearty Serving of Alphabet Soup
Three new acts enter the sacred chamber of Vibe this week.

First up is Columbia's The Neighbourhood, whose "Sweater Weather" (from their debut set I Love You) topped the PoMo chart, has seen mondo gains at Triple A and is making early believers at Pop including KMVA, WPTE, KFRH and WCLI.

The alterna-kids have gotten more than a million video views and are on at mtvU. Their sold-out national club dates are ongoing, and they'll open for Imagine Dragons in July and September.

If you've heard "Safe and Sound" by Lazy Hooks/Capitol band Capital Cities, you know why this absurdly catchy alt-pop tune hit #1 at PoMo, won myriad converts at Triple A and now has Pop in its crosshairs. Admirers include KIIS, Z100, Y100, SiriusXM Alt Nation, KROQ, 98.7, 91X, KNDD, KITS, KTCL, WWDC and tons more.

Their LP is hitting as you read this, they'll be on Conan 6/6 and Kimmel 6/10, and their summer stops include Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, Firefly and Summersonic. The press thinks they're capital, too, as evidenced by looks in USA Today, Marie Claire and L.A. Weekly.

Which brings us to Glassnote's Little Green Cars. The Irish alt-rockers' "Harper Lee," from the album Absolute Zero (which went #1 on the Emerald Isle), is exerting a lucky charm on PoMo and Triple A, as evidenced by early love at SiriusXM The Spectrum, WXRT, WFUV, WXPN, KRBZ, KCMP, WEQX, SCSN, WEHM, more. They've also been added at CD101.

The ensemble, which recently won over crowds at SxSW and Coachella, hits Lollapalooza on 8/3, Boulder's Triple A conference (don't forget to pack those Birkenstocks) on 8/8 and a Stateside tour in the fall.

Elsewhere on the Vibe chart, it's a Beggars banquet with XL's Vampire Weekend retaining its hold on #1 and 4AD's The National moving up to #2. Numerous other artists move up a slot, while Frank Turner and A Great Big World jump three places apiece. You can survey the whole kit and caboodle here.
