VARIOUS ARTISTS PREVAIL!

Three Compilation Sets Top Our Album Chart; Capitol's Troye Sivan Bows in Top 5

Have you heard of the exciting new band that's dominating the top three spots on this week's HITS Album Sales Chart? They're called Various Artists.

Two soundtracks and a compilation lead the pack this week, as Disney’s Guardians of the Galaxy ST remains at #1 for a second consecutive week with 95k, down a mere 8%

Also in the same position as last week, NOW’s Now 51 gets cozy at #2 with 56k.

The other chart-topping soundtrack also belongs to Disney, of course; Frozen is still on fire, hitting #3 with 46k (+43%) in its 38th week, powered by a $5.99 sale at iTunes.

Debut releases close out the Top 5, with Island’s Gaslight Anthem at #4 with 33k and Capitol’s latest breakout artist to bow near the top, Troye Sivan, at #5 with just under 29k.

Speaking of Capitol, Steve Barnett’s team is sittin’ pretty with 5 Seconds of Summer (-22%,28k) and Sam Smith (-4%, 25.5k) chugging along at the #6 and #7 spots.

In addition to Frozen, iTunes bargains buoyed several other chart veterans. Lava/Republic’s Lorde snags another 16k (+86%), landing her at #14, while Warner Bros.Linkin Park jumps #39-12 with 16.5k (+175%) and Capitol Nashville’s Luke Bryan slides #13-9 with 19k (+21%).
