What to Expect at Three Key Mediabase Formats

Buddy! TGIF, right? Well, for you, at least. We don't get the weekends off. But at least we get to glimpse the future of radio. Here's what to the tea leaves say.

TOP 40

Capitol's Sam Smith takes the #1 crown this week with "Stay With Me," while Republic's Ariana Grande moves into the Top 10 and looks to make the move to the top with "Break Free" f/Zedd in the coming weeks. "All About That Bass" by Epic’s Meghan Trainor is one of the week's Greatest Gainers and is moving very quickly through the Top 20. Jessie J + Ariana Grande + Nicki Minaj’s “Bang Bang” (Lava/Republic) is also have a great spin week and should be sitting in the mid-teens next week. Jeremih f/YG’s "Don't Tell ‘Em” (Def Jam) moves into the Top 30 and, with the great callout info, should be poised to make a big move up the chart. "This Is How We Do" by Capitol's Katy Perry is a 1000+ spin gainer and moves into the Top 30 as well. YMCMB/Republic's Nicki Minaj will join the chart this week with "Anaconda,” as Mr.305/Polo Grounds/RCA’s Pitbull charts with “Fireball” f/John Ryan.

RHYTHM

And just like that, we have a new #1 record. Jeremih f/YG’s "Don't Tell ‘Em" (Def Jam) jumps past Kid Ink’s "Main Chick" (RCA) for the coveted spot. Meanwhile, Grand Hustle/Columbia's T.I. jumps into the Top 10 with "No Mediocre" f/Iggy Azalea, and Iggy f/Rita Ora’s "Black Widow" (Grand Hustle/Def Jam), TeeFlii’s "24 Hours" (Epic) and Chris Brown f/Usher & Rick Ross’ "New Flame" (RCA) all have great increases. "Anaconda," by YMCMB/Republic's Nicki Minaj, and "0-100" by labelmate Drake also make huge leaps. Look for Columbia's Beyoncé to debut "Flawless" this week.

ALTERNATIVE

Vance Joy will remain #1 for a second week with his hit "Riptide." With the #1 greatest spin gainer of the week, Milky Chance's "Stolen Dance" (Republic) makes a strong move to #3 and looks to be a legit challenger for the top spot moving forward. Epic's KONGOS are also having a big week of spins, up over 150x, as "I'm Only Joking" should make a nice move to #15. Warner Bros.Death From Above 1979 and their new single, "Trainwreck 1979," will make debut on the chart. Loma Vista/Concord's Spoon is also very close to charting with their infectious "Do You."
