FROZEN SOLID!

Disney's ST Retains the #1 Spot on the HITS Album Sales Chart; Grammy Spikes Abound

Disney's Frozen once again ices our Album Sales Chart this week with 93k, virtually flat from last week. The animated film's soundtrack is a bona fide blockbuster, and upcoming developments are bound to take it even farther into the chilly stratosphere. Ken Bunt and team are celebrating with the biggest snowball fight in Burbank history.

The 2014 Grammy Nominees comp comes in second, unsurprisingly. A nearly 100% post-Grammy spike for Lava/Republic's Lorde puts her at #3 with 68k; the trailblazing teen has the 1 million mark dead in her sights. Rise rockers Of Mice & Men come next with 51k, and Columbia's Beyoncé rounds out the Top 5 with a slight post-Grammy bump for her already massive album. Queen Bey pulled in 50k; her self-titled monster is now at about 1.7m RTD.

The Top 10's only other debut comes from Provident's worshipful outfit Casting Crowns with 46k, good for #6.

The rest of the Top 10 is a who's who of Grammy performers and winners. KidinaKorner/Interscope's Imagine Dragons saw a 74% increase with 41k, good for #7); Halftime hero Bruno Mars lands at #8 with 41k (+166%); Capitol's Katy Perry (#9) enjoys a 30% lift with 33k; and Columbia has the greatest gainer in Record/Album of the Year winners Daft Punk, who round out the Top 10 with 29k--a 277% boost.

The Grammy acts, by the by, were priced to move at iTunes and subject to brief $1.99 specials at Amazon and Google that definitely shifted some units.

Just outside the Top 10 are more Grammy VIPs, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (#11, 29k, +58%) and Mercury Nashville's Kacey Musgraves (#12, 27k, +217%).

Streeting today are UMGD's NOW 49, Columbia's Broken Bells, Republic's Toni Braxton-Babyface duet set and Columbia's Little Mix. Next week brings us the new one from EMI Nashville's Eric Church.

In other news, Pete Seeger is glad he died before that Dylan commercial aired.
