RADIO CHART PREVIEW

What to Expect at Three Key Mediabase Formats

TGIF, buddy! We’ve been smoking a lot of tea lately, so let's consult the leaves and tell you our predictions for the future of radio.

TOP 40

It took a mere eight weeks for her to reach this week's milestone: Big Machine/Republic's Taylor Swift plants her flag at #1 with "Shake It Off." Others enjoying nice moves inside the Top 10 include Iggy Azalea f/Rita Ora’s "Black Widow" (Grand Hustle/Def Jam), Jeremih f/YG’s "Dont Tell 'Em" (Def Jam). Team Republic also sees strong moves from Tove Lo’s "Habits (Stay High)" and this week’s Greatest Gainer, Jessie J + Ariana Grande + Nicki Minaj’s "Bang Bang." Warner Bros.Echosmith joins the Top 10 with "Cool Kids." "Blame," by Columbia's Calvin Harris f/John Newman, is also in the 1000+ spin column and should make the Top 10 jump easily next week. Capitol's Sam Smith enjoys a big spin increase week with "I’m Not the Only One" and climbs to the mid-20s. There should be some pretty big changes at the bottom of the chart next week; details as they develop.

RHYTHM

After eight weeks, it’s looking like we’ll finally have a new #1 record. Jeremih f/YG’s "Don't Tell ‘Em" (Def Jam) could be reaching the end of its reign at the top, allowing Grand Hustle/Columbia's T.I. to climb in with "No Mediocre" f/Iggy Azalea. It’s still going to come down to the very last minute. Aftermath/Interscope’s Kendrick Lamar leaps into the Top 10 with “i,” increasing over 750 spins. Other impressive spin gainers include DJ Khaled f/Chris Brown, August Alsina, Future & Jeremih’s "Hold You Down" (Republic), Kid Ink f/Usher & Tinashe’s "Body Language" (RCA), Big Sean’s "IDFWU" (G.O.O.D./Def Jam) and Ariana Grande f/The Weeknd’s "Love You Harder" (Republic), which is the biggest debut.

ALTERNATIVE

Republic’s Milky Chance stays #1 for a fifth week with their big hit, "Stolen Dance," Island/Republic's Fall Out Boy arrives in the Top 10 with "Centuries" and Lava/Republic’s Lorde moves to #13 with her new single "Yellow Flicker Beat," up over 350x. RCA's Walk The Moon is having a real good week with "Shut Up And Dance”; it's up 150x and moves #30-23. Zuma Rock/RAL’s BUSH hits the Top 25 with "The Only Way Out." Meanwhile, George Ezra's "Budapest" (Columbia) will debut on the chart.
