FRIDAY CHART PREVIEW

What to Expect on Next Week’s
Key Mediabase Charts

You can read it here right now, or wait until Monday to read it everywhere else (without the pot jokes). In any case, here's a guide to next week’s action on the Top 40, Rhythmic and Alternative Mediabase charts. Katy, Miley, Drake, Justin, Lorde and Avicii stay super-hot; Gaga and Arcade Fire are among the acts making moves. Read on to see what to expect—it’s like having a time machine, without having to fight your cyborg twin.

TOP 40
Katy Perry
’s “Roar” (Capitol) will remain at #1 on Monday, maintaining a 2000x lead. Avicii (PRMD/Island/IDJ) is up another 1000x, and will move to #3 with “Wake Me Up.” Lava/Republic’s Lorde will enter the Top 5 with “Royals” up another 2000x. Lady Gaga is having a strong week and will enter the top 10 at #7 with her hit “Applause” (Interscope). Drake’s (YM/CM/Republic) big week continues with a Top 10 entrance by “Hold On, We’re Going Home.” There seems to be no stopping RCA’s Miley Cyrus, as “Wrecking Ball” will skyrocket 21-14. We're seeing a nice week of airplay from AWOLNATION (Red Bull Records), Selena Gomez (Hollywood) and Jason Derulo (Warner Bros.). RCA’s Justin Timberlake will debut with his latest, “TKO.”

RHYTHMIC
Expect no major changes inside the Top 10 this week, as Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” (CM/YM/Republic) remains #1. Lorde’s “Royals” (Lava/Republic), Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “White Walls” (Macklemore), Ariana Grande’s “Right There” (Republic), Rich Homie Quan’s “Type Of Way” and August Alsina’s “I Luv This Sh*t” (the latter two both on Def Jam/IDJ) all have major airplay gains and solidify themselves inside the Top 20. Jay Z’s “Tom Ford” (Roc-a-Fella/Roc Nation), Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” and Justin Timberlake’s “T.K.O” (the latter two on RCA) debut this week.

ALTERNATIVE
Virgin’s Bastille will move to #3 with “Pompeii” and appears destined to top the PoMo chart. Merge’s Arcade Fire will make a big 28-18 move with “Reflektor” prior to this weekend’s SNL performance and concert special. Monkeywrench/Republic’s Pearl Jam will have a truly impressive debut at #23 with “Sirens.” The Killers will debut with “Shot at the Night” (Island/IDJ) and Glassnote’s Chvrches is ever so close to charting with “The Mother We Share.”
