We can’t prove this, but we have a sneaking suspicion that—for the most part—the same people bought all three rejiggered Zep albums. And that they sparked a massive, reeking blunt before listening for the first time.

PLATINUM DEBUT

Miranda Lambert's Title Seems Fitting as She Scores a 178k Album Chart Bow

Well, bust our britches—another big Country debut.

RCA Nashville’s Miranda Lambert roars into first place on this week’s HITS Album Sales Chart, moving more than 178k of her Platinum for her best first week ever—and causing Sony Nashville chief Gary O to click the heels of his cowboy boots together.

Ms. Lambert’s 2011 set streeted with 133k and has sold 970k RTD, so Platinum’s title seems apt.

Coming in at #2 is Disney’s Frozen with 53k; it’s up two places from last week despite being down 5%. Next comes another Nashville phenom, Valory’s Brantley Gilbert, with 48k (-28%). Parlophone’s Coldplay takes 44k (-48%) and Now 50 (on the Now label, a joint venture between UMG and Sony that’s also part of the UMe universe, something we’ll be explaining every week because we’re desperate for attention) rounds out the Top 5 with 42k (+4%).

G Unit/Caroline’s 50 Cent is one of the three other debuts on the Top 10, bowing with 40k for his Animal Ambition. The other two come from a little British outfit called Led ZeppelinRhino’s elaborate, Jimmy Page-curated reissues of the rock legends’ first three LPs clocked the #8, #10 and #11 positions in numerical order, all in the neighborhood of 30k.

We can’t prove this, but we have a sneaking suspicion that—for the most part—the same people bought all three rejiggered Zep albums. And that they sparked a massive, reeking blunt before listening for the first time.

#7 goes to Atlantic’s ST to The Fault in Our Stars, the three-hanky YA film adaptation that just hit theaters; with 37k it jumped 12 chart spots and 203%, making it easily the week’s greatest gainer. Now Country 7 lands at #9 with 30k.

Other noteworthy debuts include Disney Nashville’s Lucy Hale at #14 and Sony MasterworksIdina Menzel Broadway vehicle If/Then: A New Musical, which lands at #17—no doubt boosted by Sunday night’s Tonys telecast.

Streeting today are Third Man/Columbia’s Jack White, Nettwerk’s Passenger and RCA’s Imogen Heap. Next week brings the powerhouse threesome of Interscope’s Lana Del Rey, Capitol’s Sam Smith and Warner Bros.Linkin Park.

In other news, we're delighted to say Donald Sterling has ensured that we will be making many more Donald Sterling jokes.
