VEVO: 100 MILLION VIEWERS
ARE "CERTIFIED"

Music Video and Entertainment Platform Will Honor Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, LMFAO and Selena Gomez

VEVO will honor its most viewed video artists with the newly minted Certified Award, given to those clips which reach the 100 million viewed milestone.

Initial honorees Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, LMFAO and Selena Gomez will be feted with a full rollout of exclusive, original programming premiering on VEVO beginning in June.

The inaugural honorees include eight Bieber clips (“Baby,” “Never Say Never,” “One Time,” “Somebody to Love,” “Never Let You Go,” “One Less Lonely Girl,” “Love Me” and “Mistletoe”); four for Perry (“Firework,” “ET,” “Last Friday Night” and “Teenage Dream”); two by LMFAO (“Party Rock Anthem” and “Sexy and I Know It”); and four by Gomez (“Naturally,” “Who Says,” “Love You Like a Love Song” and “A Year Without Rain”)

VEVO Certified programming will kick off with Bieber on June 12, followed by Perry (June 25), LMFAO (July 9) and Gomez (July 23). All programming will be available at http://vevo.com/certified

VEVO will honor additional artists and their Certified videos each quarter going forward. Among other multiple winners on the initial list are Adele, Avril Lavigne, Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Chris Brown, Eminem, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Miley Cyrus, Pitbull, Rihanna and Shakira.

VEVO’s video view counts represent the only definitive and official metric across all digital platforms because of its far-reaching scale and reach, which includes online, mobile and tablet, connected devices and syndication partner sites like AOL, Facebook, Yahoo! Music and YouTube. Videos “Certified” by VEVO have achieved a similar milestone to that of the RIAA’s gold and platinum certification for audio.

VEVO will celebrate Certified videos with a series of exclusive, artist and fan-focused original programming honoring each video clip. Programming will also include “Director’s Cuts” of the video accompanied by artist commentary and a webisode featuring fans and other artists paying tribute to the video and talking about how it impacted them personally.

Each series will also feature one Certified Ultimate Fan—recruited by VEVO via Facebook and Twitter presenting the VEVO Certified statue to his/her favorite artist.

VEVO’s Certified statue signifies the visceral essence of music with a chiseled base and outstretched hand shaping a “V,” the universal music fan sign of approval. Its base is adorned with the Official VEVO Certified Seal on either side, the VEVO logo on the back and the artist’s accreditation on the front.

“VEVO is the authority on music video view counts,” said SVP Programming, Talent & Content Operations Doug McVehil. “We receive hundreds of new music videos every month and, out of our catalog of more than 7,500 artists, an elite group of just 34 have videos that have exceeded 100 million views. Reaching that threshold is a huge achievement that merits recognition. Certified was born to salute these artists and the most popular videos of all time in the same way audio releases are awarded for sales achievements.”

“To have eight VEVO Certified videos means the world,” said Bieber. “I always say the Internet is where I got my start. I posted videos and now to have it come full circle—and now I’m getting Certified—it’s amazing.”

“I just want to thank all my friends and fans online that have watched my music videos so many times that I can barely count,” said Perry. “Thank you all for your attention and for your love and support. I will always try my best to give you something special. Rock on!”

Added LMFAO: “Thanks to the fans for [watching] our videos, showing their support and showing their love.”
