Amazon $1.99 Sale Boosts Bruno, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis; Atoms for Peace, Hillsong United Debut

That’s what Atlantic Records artist Bruno Mars is saying after his album, Unorthodox Jukebox, climbs to #1 on this week’s chart with 96k in sales, up a whopping 97%, a good many of them from the online retailer’s discount pricing.

Red-hot indie rappers Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, fresh off their Saturday Night Live appearance, are also beneficiaries of the Amazon MP3 promotion, with 44k in sales (+104%), good for #3.

Glassnote’s Mumford & Sons, climbing over 2 million at #4, and Hillsong United’s Zion, entering at #5, round out the leaders.

Capitol’s Now 45 (#6), Dualtone’s The Lumineers (#7), Def Jam/IDJ’s Rihanna (#8), XL/Columbia’s Adele (#14-9, +18%) and Reprise’s Josh Groban (#10) complete the Top 10.

Other titles affected by the Amazon sale, which included just Sony and WMG titles include Rhino’s Billboard #1`s (#11), Warner Bros.Muse (#13) and Tegan & Sara (#19), Columbia’s Train (#24), Atlantic’s Led Zeppelin Celebration (#25), Columbia’s Passion Pit (#29), Atlantic’s Flo Rida (#35), Legacy’s Earth, Wind & Fire Greatest Hits (#40), Columbia’s Aerosmith Greatest Hits (#46) and RCA’s Britney Spears Greatest Hits (#50).

Top 50 chart newcomers include Nonesuch’s Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell (#33), Valory’s Mavericks (#34) and Montaign’s Michael Bolton (#39).

More double-digit gainers include Republic’s Les Miserables soundtrack (#28-16, +49%), Broken Bow’s Jason Aldean (#38-30, +16%) and Big Machine/Republic’s Florida Georgia Line (#19-18, +11%).

Hitting this week are Capitol Nashville’s Luke Bryant, Legacy’s Jimi Hendrix and Disney’s Shake It Up 3. Island’s Bon Jovi, ISO/Columbia’s David Bowie, Surfdog’s Eric Clapton, Interscope’s Mindless Behavior and RCA’s Sound City—Reel to Reel soundtrack arrive March 12, while RCA’s Justin Timberlake is ready to explode on March 19.
