What to Expect at Three Key Mediabase Formats

Hey Buddy, stuff your turkey with our predictions for the future of Top 40, Rhythm and Alternative radio below. Gobble, gobble.

TOP 40

222/Interscope’s Maroon 5 will stay in the top position for another week with "Animals." There are several songs charging the top of the chart, including "Blame" by Columbia’s Calvin Harris f/John Newman and "Waves” by Ultra/RCA’s Mr. Probz. Both will make the Top 5 jump this week. Big Machine's Taylor Swift will have this week’s Greatest Gainer, as "Blank Space" gains 2000+ spins and makes a huge jump up to #7. Columbia's Hozier is set to make the Top 20 move with "Take Me to Church," and so is Epic's Meghan Trainor with her latest single, "Lips Are Movin." Hollywood's Selena Gomez has cause to celebrate, as "The Heart Wants What It Wants" is up over 1500 spins and looks poised to move Top 20 next week. Mosley/Interscope’s One Republic will chart this week with "I Lived" along with Syco/Epic's Fifth Harmony and their smash, "Sledgehammer."

RHYTHM

G.O.O.D./Def Jam's Big Sean inches closer to #1 with "IDFWU," as it moves #6-2 this week. Meanwhile, Republic has two records in the Top 10, as Ariana Grande & The Weeknd’s "Love Me Harder" and DJ Khaled f/Chris Brown, August Alsina, Future & Jeremih’s "Hold You Down" continue to grow. I Love Makonnen f/Drake’s "Tuesday" (OVO/Warner Bros.) will be up over 500 spins. RCA’s got some momentum, as Kid Ink f/Usher &Tinashe’s "Body Language," Mr. Probz’s "Waves" and Usher f/Juicy J’s "I Don't Mind" will all enjoy impressive gains. Over at Columbia, T.I.’s "About the Money" and Dej Loaf’s "Try Me" will both be up over 200 spins.

ALTERNATIVE

For the first time in 10 weeks, Modern Rock will have a new #1 on Monday, as RCA's Foo Fighters and their big hit, "Something From Nothing," will take over the top spot. Looking ahead, it appears that this track will have a long and healthy run at #1. Virgin’s Bastille will enter the Top 5 with "Flaws." Up over 200x, RCA's Walk The Moon will rocket into the Top 10 with "Shut Up and Dance." Black Mammoth/Warner Bros.Royal Blood is approaching Top 20 with "Figure It Out," which looks to make a big move moving forward. Glassnote’s Robert DeLong has a good week, as "Long Way Down” fastracks #36-31. Cold War Kids’ "All This Could Be Yours" will make its chart debut.
