Lava/Republic’s Lorde will stay at #1 at Alternative for a sixth week with her monster smash, “Royals.”

FRIDAY CHART PREVIEW: CAPITOL SHOW, OLD BEAN

CMG's the MVP in Our Weekly Round-Up of the Action at Three Key Mediabase Radio Formats

Capitol Music Group, which is becoming a real force, is the big story on our Mediabase chart preview this week. Capitol will have the #1 and #2 Top 40 singles in the land, as Katy Perry stampedes past Capital Cities; there’s also excitement around the critically acclaimed new Elton John record. Kudos to promo hitter Dennis Reese. On the Alternative side, CMG’s Bill Carroll brings the heat on Capital Cities, Bastille and Thirty Seconds to Mars.

TOP 40
Capitol
’s Katy Perry will have her 10th #1 Pop hit on Monday, as “Roar” gains another astounding 2000x and will skyrocket #5-1. Capitol’s other big hit, Capital Cities’ “Safe And Sound” will climb to #2. “Wake Me Up” by PRMD/Island/IDJ’s Avicii will jump into the Top 10, as will Jay Z’s “Holy Grail.” Lady Gaga (Interscope), Lorde (Lava/Republic) and Drake (YM/CM/Republic) all move closer to the Top 10 as all three records are well over 1000 plus spins for the week. RCA’s Miley Cyrus latest smash, “Wrecking Ball”—which is currently #1 at iTunes—will make its chart debut on Monday, as will Bruno Mars’ “Gorilla.” “Closer” by WB’s Tegan & Sara, after a year-long battle, is now blowing up; congrats to Peter Gray and team.

ALTERNATIVE
Lava/Republic
’s Lorde will stay at #1 for a sixth week with her monster smash, “Royals.” Virgin’s Bastille will enter the Top 5 with “Pompeii,” which had a big sales debut this week of 34k. Modular/Interscope’s Tame Impala and RCA’s Cage the Elephant are locked in the Top 10 for a second week. Thirty Seconds to Mars’ “City Of Angels” (Virgin) gains momentum and will make a nice move inside the Top 15. We’ll also see two impressive debuts, as Coldplay’s “Atlas”(on Republic’s Hunger Games: Catching Fire ST) should land inside the Top 30 and Arcade Fire’s “Reflektor” (Merge) will debut after just a few days of airplay.

RHYTHMIC
Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” (CM/YM/Republic) will have a 1,000+ spin increase this week! Chris Brown’s “Love More” (RCA) and Big Sean “Beware” (Def Jam/IDJ) have huge increases as well inside the Top 10. Lorde’s “Royals” (Lava/Republic) will vault inside the Top 25, and Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” (PRMD/Island/IDJ), Rich Homie Quan’s “Type Of Way” (Def Jam/IDJ) and Future’s “Honest” (Epic) all have triple digits increases. August Alsina “I Luv This Sh*t” (Def Jam/IDJ) and two from Columbia, Juicy J’s “Bounce It” and Daft Punk’s “Lose Yourself to Dance,” are looking to debut this week.

Meanwhile, on the UMPG Dispensary Chart, look for a big move by Wrecking Ball Kush. It's sledgehammer-licking good!
