PETTY'S GOT HIS EYE ON #1

Iconic Rocker Looks Set to Debut Atop Album Chart for the First Time
All signs point to Warner Bros.’ rock icon Tom Petty having his first-ever #1 album-chart debut next week, after nearly 38 years in the marketplace.

Early projections say Petty’s new set, Hypnotic Eye—made with longtime band the Heartbreakers—looks set to sell about 100-110k in its first week, buoyed by excellent advance word.

The rocker’s 2010 release, Mojo, bowed at #2, his highest chart position, solo or with the Heartbreakers, since 1979’s indelible Damn the Torpedoes.

Well, Tom, it took a little while to get there. But sometimes the waiting is the hardest part.
