GARTH? GARSH!

Country Kingpin Rules Our Album Chart in Second Week; 1D Grabs #2, Britney Bows Top 5

Garth Brooks rules the HITS Album Sales Chart in week two of his box set Blame It All on My Roots (Pearl), a Walmart exclusive that proves some records just go better with cleaning supplies and hunting gear. Hard-shopping 'Murcans added another 142k to Garth’s capacious coffers; Roots has dug up 305k RTD (-26%).

SYCO/Columbia’s One Direction grab #2 in their second week with 110k (-79%); the quintet has already moved 640k RTD.

Next come a couple of holiday highlights, Duck the Halls from EMI Nashville’s The Robertsons (#3, 109k, down a mere 11%) and Kelly Clarkson’s Wrapped in Red (RCA), which also scored 109k, -18% and good for #4. Look for big jumps in these two titles after their TV specials air this week.

Britney Jean, the new one from RCA’s Britney Spears, rounds out the Top 5 with a 108k debut.

Apart from that rap god known as Shady/Aftermath/Interscope’s Eminem (#6, 82k, -58%), who’s now passed the 1.4m mark, the rest of the Top 10 is extremely holiday-centric, with the Deluxe PTXmas from the week’s greatest gainer, Madison Gate’s Pentatonix (62k, +179%), Reprise’s seasonal perennial Michael Buble (56k, +11%), Mary J. Blige’s Mary Christmas on Verve (51k, -8% and Disney’s Frozen soundtrack (50k, +10%) bringing the cheer.

The Top 20’s other notable debuts include Days of Gold by RCA Nashville’s Jake Owen (#13) and two more Christmas gifts: the new TV-spawned Sound of Music with Carrie Underwood on Sony Masterworks (#16) and Portrait’s The Piano Guys.

Streeting now are Glassnote’s Childish Gambino and RCA’s R. Kelly, among others.

Time to wrap a little present for ourselves, with some of that batshit chronic the UMPG security staff brought over. It’s beginning to look a lot like … um … sorry, we forgot what we were gonna say.
