AZALEA BLOOMS!

Frozen’s Got its 12th #1, While Grand Hustle/Def Jam Rapper Scores In Her Album Chart Debut

Coming off its Easter peak, Disney's Frozen notches another #1 (marking the 12th non-consecutive time for Ken Bunt and his magical team) on the HITS Album Sales Chart with 110k (-58%).

The week’s top-scoring debut is New Classic from Grand Hustle/Def Jam’s Iggy Azalea, which hits #2 with 55k—exceeding expectations and providing label chief Steve Bartels with back-to-back overperforming bows (last week’s #2 was Def Jam’s August Alsina).

Another debut, from Epic’s Future takes #3 with 49k, followed by Columbia’s Pharrell Williams at around 20k (-39%); Island’s Neon Trees round out the Top 5 with 19k, equaling the first-week sales of their 2011 release (which has sold 171k RTD).

Capitol Nashville’s Luke Bryan (19k, -44%), the aforementioned August Alsina (18k, -71%), Big Machine’s debuting Nashville TV soundtrack (18k), Lava/Republic’s Lorde (16k, -43%) and Capitol’s 5 Seconds of Summer (15k, -37%) finish up the Top 10.

In a mostly down week, the greatest gainer—picking up 13%—is Virgin’s Bastille, who jump #37-20 on the chart.

Next week will find debuts from Lindseystomp’s Lindsey Stirling, RCA’s Ray LaMontagne and Christian act Passion vying for new-release supremacy. Island’s Timeflies will also bow.

Ahead in the month of May are (among many others) debuts from Nonesuch/WarnerBros.’ Black Keys and Parlophone’s Coldplay.

In an unrelated story, Donald Sterling feels deeply chastened, humiliated and regretful, and is ready for his billion-dollar check now.
