What to Expect at Three Key Mediabase Formats

Hey, buddy. You’re just in time. We’ve smoked a lotta tea leaves, so we're seeing the future of Pop, Rhythm and PoMo. We're also seeing snakes. So many snakes.

TOP 40

RCA's Justin Timberlake is making a big push with "Not a Bad Thing" to unseat Columbia's John Legend and "All of Me" from its #1 spot, but it looks like it’ll have to wait one more week! Def Jam is wasting no time on Iggy Azalea’s "Fancy," which jumps into the Top 10. DJ Snake & Lil Jon’s "Turn Down for What" (Columbia) also makes that Top 10 move. Other big movers include this week's Greatest Gainer, Republic's Ariana Grande with "Problem" f/Iggy Azalea, Columbia's Calvin Harris with "Summer" and, making a huge climb on the chart, Capitol's Sam Smith with "Stay with Me." Warner Bros.Jason Derulo joins the chart this week with "Wiggle" f/Snoop Dogg. Meanwhile, “Forever,” by Columbia’s HAIM, and “Crazy Stupid Love,” by Capitol’s My Crazy Girlfriend, are both bubbling under, waiting to chart.

RHYTHM

It looks as though Trey Songz will remain in the #1 slot this week, with Columbia's DJ Snake & Lil Jon and "Turn Down for What" fighting it out against Def Jam’s Iggy Azalea and "Fancy" for the following week. RCA's Justin Timberlake sees "Not a Bad Thing" climb into the Top 10, and Glassnote’s Childish Gambino goes Top 20 with "3005." Huge increases include Republic’s Ariana Grande with "Problem" f/Iggy Azalea, Def Jam's YG with "Who Do You Love" f/Drake, RCA's Usher with "Good Kisser" and Warner Bros.' Jason Derulo with "Wiggle" f/Snoop Dogg. The biggest debut will come from Republic with Lil Wayne f/Drake’s "Believe Me."

ALTERNATIVE

The Black Keys will stay at #1 for a second week with their hit "Fever" (Nonesuch/Warner Bros.). The Top 10 remains the same, but RCA's Bleachers should get inside the Top 5 with "I Wanna Get Better" next week. We’ll soon see some new action in the Top 10, as Jack White’s “Lazaretto” (Columbia), Big Data’s “Dangerous” (Crush/Warner Bros.) and Cage the Elephant’s “Come a Little Closer” (RCA) keep climbing closer due to another strong week of spins. On the buzzing front, look for Tove Lo's "Habits," on Island/Republic, to make an impressive #36-29 move. Warner Bros.’ Linkin Park will make their chart debut with their new single "Until It's Gone," and the same goes for “Rude” from RCA’s Magic!.
