FRIDAY CHART PREVIEW

What to Expect at Three Key
Mediabase Radio Formats

Greetings, readers. It’s time for our weekly look into the future—by which we mean the activity on three key Mediabase charts next week.

How do we know what lies ahead? We just let the spirits guide us. The voices are strong this week, and they foretell of rulers—like Lorde’s ascent to the Top 40 throne and Bastille’s retaining the Alternative scepter—contenders like Cage the Elephant and big gainers like Selena, Justin, Jay Z and Miley. And that’s just for starters. Read on for more prophesy.

TOP 40
It looks like Capitol’s Katy Perry will finally relinquish that #1 spot to Lorde’s “Royals” (Lava/Republic). Selena Gomez isn’t “slowing down” with “Slow Down” (Hollywood), as it accelerates into the Top 10. Entering the chart this week are “Counting Stars” by OneRepublic (Mosley/Interscope) and Pitbull’s “Timber” (RCA). “Let Her Go” by Nettwerk's Passenger re-enters the chart this week with a big move and is gaining steam. The greatest gainer of the week, with what looks to be upward of 1500 spins, is none other than lil’ Ms. Miley Cyrus with “Wrecking Ball” (RCA).

RHYTHM
YM/CM/Republic
’s Drake “Holds On” to the #1 spot again this week, while Lava/Republic’s Lorde jumps to #3 and looks set for another 850+ spin gain. Justin Timberlake’s “TKO” (RCA) punches its way inside the Top 15, and Jay Z’s “Tom Ford” (Roc-a-Fella/Roc Nation) sashays into the Top 20. Selena Gomez’s “Slow Down” (Hollywood) will debut, while Glee co-star Naya Rivera’s “Sorry” (Columbia) and Kid Ink’s “Show Me” (RCA) are fighting to debut as well.

ALTERNATIVE
Virgin
’s Bastille will enjoy its second week at #1 with debut hit “Pompeii,” which holds a comfortable 200x lead. RCA’s Cage the Elephant will rise to #3 with “Come a Little Closer.” Sometime in the next week or so we’ll see some new movement in the Top 10, as MS MR (Columbia), Linkin Park (Warner Bros.), and Pearl Jam (Monkeywrench/Republic) arrive on the scene. Anti’s Man Man will debut on the chart with “Head On.” The next week or so will also bring chart entries from Colourist (Republic), Capital Cities (Capitol), AWOLNATION (Red Bull Records), Kings Of Leon (RCA), and The Airborne Toxic Event (Island/IDJ).
