YOUR PASSOVER CHART STORY

Frozen Notches Another Album Chart #1, Pharrell Jumps to #2; Top 5 Bows for Black Label Society, SoMo

Gut yontiff and happy Pesach, everyone. Today we celebrate our freedom from slavery in Egypt by tracking the week's record sales.

Disney’s Frozen—heard of it? It’s #1 on the HITS Album Sales Chart once again this week with 132k (-11%), blowing past the 2 million mark. Will this be the biggest record of 2014?

Meanwhile, Columbia’s Pharrell gained momentum from two strategic TV appearances to jump #8-2, moving 30k (+18%, making Coachella’s favorite hat model the week’s greatest gainer).

eOne’s Black Label Society bows at #3 with 25k for the cheerfully titled Catacombs of the Black Vatican, followed by Capitol’s 5 Seconds of Summer (25k, -82%); another debut, from Republic’s SoMo (24k), rounds out the Top 5.

Two more bows follow, from Fair Trade’sMercyMe (#6, 23k) and Sharon’s Rose/Vinyl Records’ Martina McBride (#7, 22k). A trio of gainers—Capitol Nashville’s Luke Bryan (+15%), Now’s Now 49 (+17%) and Republic Nashville’s Florida Georgia Line (+15%)—round out theTop 10; Luke and FGL continued to reap the benefits of the recent ACM Awards.

Now, meanwhile, appears on the Now label, a joint venture between UMG andSony that is also affiliated with the UMe universe. Just thought we’d point that out.

Streeting this week are Grand Hustle/Def Jam’s August Alsina, Cabin 24/Mom+Pop’s Ingrid Michaelson and Warner Bros.' Jason Derulo, among others.

In other news, today we eat only unleavened bread because of the burning bush or the parting of the red sea or something, so pass the horseradish.
