TERRY IS CHERRY-PICKED FOR UMPG NASH
7/22/19

UMPG’s recently appointed Chairman/CEO, Troy Tomlinson, has named Terry Wakefield as SVP, A&R for the company’s Nashville division today (7/22). Prior to joining UMPG, Wakefield served as SVP, Creative at Troy's former home, Sony/ATV. Among some of his signings were Cole Swindell, Luke Bryan, Tony Lane, Michael Carter and Lainey Wilson; he's also helped guide the careers of Tom Douglas, Jaren Johnston, Jim Beavers, and Songwriter Hall Of Fame members Bill Anderson and Bobby Braddock.

In his new role, Wakefield will sign and develop new songwriting talent and support the current roster of writers while playing a key leadership role in the company’s creative division. Wakefield, who began his publishing career in 1994 with Little Big Town Music before its 1998 Sony/ATV acquisition, was previously a member of the Arista Nashville A&R team.

“Terry is the consummate professional and is widely known as an outstanding song man,” shares Tomlinson. “His passion for songwriters and his personal relationships with artists will bring significant opportunities to our entire roster and creative team.”

Wakefield adds, “I have worked with Troy Tomlinson for more than 17 years and I’m thankful to be able to continue our relationship." Hot chicken was then served.
