Dan + Shay’s rocket “Tequila” is #1 at Country radio and the #1 streamed country song in the U.S., another feather in Espo’s cap. Put that coup alongside the inking of megastar Kenny Chesney, breakout troubadour Ashley McBryde (see ones to watch) and hot Texas youngsters Cody Johnson (the subject of an intense A&R contest) and Troy Cartwright. Meanwhile, WMN racked up ACM and CMA noms for Dan + Shay, Raelynn, Devin Dawson and High Valley; Chris Janson became the youngest living Opry member; roots killers The Last Bandoleros made their Opry bow; McBryde joined CMT’s Next Women Class of 2018; and Brett Eldredge got a big look on the Pentatonix NBC Christmas special.
