CROSSOVER
THE BALLSTREET JOURNAL

I hope everyone enjoyed their President’s Day vacation. Now, let’s talk music. Republic’s Gary Spangler and Davey Dee have Drake’s “God’s Plan” (YMCMB) rocketing to #2 this week. It was up over 1k spins yet again and will snag the coveted #1 spot in the next two weeks. They also have The Weeknd & Kendrick Lamar’s “Pray for Me” from the soundtrack to Black Panther (TDE/Aftermath/Interscope). This was up 885 spins, good enough for #14. Jacquees f/Dej Loaf’s “At the Club” (Cash Money) holds at #18, and NAV f/Lil Uzi Vert’s “Wanted You” (XO) is up 70 spins, just missing a debut at #43. Big Sean & Metro Boomin f/Kash Doll’s “So Good,” up 190 spins, is also a week or so away from a debut. Iggy Azalea f/Quavo’s “Savior” (Island), up 95 spins, is still getting started. They’re impacting Sean Paul & David Guetta f/Becky G’s “Mad Love” this week.

RCA’s Inca and Lori G have G-Eazy & Halsey’s “Him & I” at #4 this week. It continues to gain spins; it’s up by 210. A$AP Ferg f/Nicki Minaj’s “Plain Jane” (Polo Grounds) climbs to #13, thanks to a 150-spin increase, and Justin Timberlake’s “Supplies” slides into the Top 20, gaining an additional 235 spins this week. Khalid’s “Saved” (Right Hand) jumps #26-21, up 70 spins. They impacted Tinashe f/Offset’s “No Drama” last week, and it comes in at #50. It was up 230 spins and is a week or two away from a solid debut. They’re impacting A$AP Rocky x Gucci Mane x 21 Savage f/London On Da Track’s “Cocky”—the lead single from the movie Uncle Drew.

Epic’s Rick Sackheim and Sujit Kundu have Camila Cabello’s “Never Be the Same” (SYCO), which slides inside the Top 25. It was up 225 spins and climbs seven spots to #23. At #31, Blac Youngsta’s “Booty” (CMG) has a triple-digit increase. Right behind is French Montana’s “Famous” (Bad Boy), up 50 spins. They debut Kent Jones’ “Merengue” (Epidemic/We the Best) this week at #36.

Columbia’s Ayelet Schiffman and James White have Remy Ma f/Chris Brown’s “Melanin Magic” entering the Top 25. It was up 75 spins and is moving quickly at Urban. They also have Lil Xan’s “Betrayed,” up 100 spins at #28, as he continues a super successful promo run. With sold-out shows and more than 6.5m in consumption each week, he keeps growing.

Noah Sheer and Def Jam debut the Jhene Aiko f/Rae Sremmerd’s “Sativa” this week at #39. It was up an impressive 225 spins.

I still cannot believe that Warner Bros. has Dua Lipa’s “New Rules” at #8 on the Rhythm chart. It was up another 250 spins. It doesn’t really check any of the “typical” rhythm boxes, but that just goes to show you can’t really put any record into one box.
