CROSSOVER
There is nothing like the week two football hangover. Everyone is amped up, ready for their team to get off to a great start, and put the last year behind them. Then reality sets in. Fantasy football owners are ready to bench Ray Rice. The Steelers, Patriots and Ravens offenses are anemic. Redskin fans want to bench RG3, and coaches are already on the hot seat. But man, Seattle and Denver sure do look good! And the Houston Texans’ half time show was Vanilla Ice. Vanilla Ice… Well, back to some REAL music. Jay Z holds on to the #1 spot again this week. “Holy Grail” had another huge week, gaining 559 spins. Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness keep the hits coming with Big Sean’s “Beware,” which jumps #11-7, up 527 spins. They also have Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” inside the Top 25, and up over 225 spins and Rich Homie Quan’s “Type Of Way” going #30-27, up 132 spins, and are charting August Alsina’s “I Luv This Sht” at #37, gaining 173 spins. They’re impacting Rihanna’s “What Now” next week, and Iggy Azalea’s “Change Your Life” in two weeks… Gary Spangler (who’s trying to get used to four hours of sleep and the smell of poopy diapers) and Davey Dee are hot on the heels of the #1 position. Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” is currently #2 and up 1155 spins. It looks as though it’s two weeks away. And after another monster week, Lorde’s “Royals” jumps #38-23 and is up 561 spins. The multi-format success of this record makes it one of the biggest buzz records out there. At #26, Sage The Gemini’s “Gas Pedal” continues to build; it’s up another 223 spins. And after Ariana Grande f/Big Sean “Right Here” impacted just one week ago, it debuts on the chart at #38, and is up 483 spins! Sitting just outside the chart is DJ Khaled’s “I Wanna Be With You” and The Weeknd f/Drake “Live For”… John Strazza, Inca and Lori G at RCA have Chris Brown knocking on Top 5’s door, as “Love More” f/Nicki Minaj goes to #6, up 482 spins. Becky G’s “Play It Again” goes #35-33 this week. T Pain’s “Up Down” is just getting started, and was up 80 spins this week. The Britney Spears track “Work Bitch” leaked a day early, and after three days is already #17 on the Top 40 chart. Look for a number of the more Pop-leaning Rhythmic stations to jump on board this week. And how about Miley Cyrus? She breaks her OWN record with the “Wrecking Ball” video, which becomes the fastest clip ever to reach 100 million views on VEVO. The track also has monster sales on iTunesAyelet Schiffman had quite a birthday party this past Thursday night at the 40/40 Club in NYC. It was great to see so many friends come out to support her. She and James White at Columbia are in the midst of getting J. Cole another #1 record. “Crooked Smile” is #3 this week, up 388 spins. They also debut Juicy J’s “Bounce It” at #40 this week, and have Daft Punk’s “Lose Yourself to Dance” at #42. Meanwhile, they’re on the road setting up Naya Rivera f/Big Sean “Sorry,” and are building Krewella’s “Live For The Night.”… Epic has done a tremendous job with Yo Gotti’s “Act Right.” After being down in spins two weeks ago, it has not only rebounded, but was up triple digits this week and moves #37-32. Future’s “Honest” is also headed up the charts, going #40-35 and up 146 spins. They’re looking to debut TeeFlii’s “This D” this week—it’s currently at #45—and impacting Cher Lloyd f/T.I.’s “I Wish” next week… And this coming week, Lee L’Heureux at WB impacts Jason Derulo’s new track, “Marry Me.” It was most added at Top 40, and will debut on the chart there this week… Also, Macklemore’s “White Walls” continues to climb the chart. It goes #26-22, up over 325 spins this week.
