CROSSOVER
This week’s buzz surrounds a new track from Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj, “Bang Bang” (Lava/Republic). They’re impacting today at multiple formats, but the track is already #1 at iTunes! A hook-heavy song with superstar power, it’s sure to be in the Most Added column at both Pop and Rhythm. While there’s never a sure thing, it sounds like it’ll connect with the audience and be a callout record. Gary Spangler and Davey Dee also have Lil Wayne f/Drake’s “Believe Me” inside the Top 5 and Nicki Minaj’s “Pills N Potions” inside the Top 10, up over 200 spins. Adrian Marcel’s “2 AM” continues to build each week and is now at #19, while Ariana Grande f/Zedd’s “Break Free” moves #31-26, up 340 spins. Drake’s “0-100” is climbing the charts and looks to debut in the next few weeks. Kiesza’s “Hideaway” is big at Top 40 and starting to cross over to the more pop-leaning Rhythmic stations… Def Jam has done a bang-up job with August Alsina’s “Numb.” It’s at #17 this week, up 380 spins. This record was basically flat for a few weeks, but Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness would not take no for an answer. It’s been on the chart for 15 weeks and has plenty of life ahead of it. They also have Jeremih f/YG’s “Don’t Tell Em” inside the Top 10, up 650 spins, and that’s good enough to be the Most Increased record this week. Def Jam also has Iggy Azalea f/Rita Ora’s “Black Widow” at #23, up 300 spins. Meanwhile, Jeezy f/Jay Z’s “Seen It All” is just outside the chart… Ayelet Schiffman and James White at Columbia have T.I. f/Iggy Azalea’s “No Mediocre” going Top 15, gaining 300 spins. They also have Pharrell Williams f/Miley Cyrus’ “Come Get It Bae” at #20. Dillon Francis & DJ Snake’s “Get Low,” T. Mills’ “All I Wanna Do” and Samantha J’s “Tight Skirt” are all working their way on to the chart. John Legend’s “You & I” is just getting started, but the video reaction has been huge. A number of radio stations were late on his last track, which was a monster. Don’t make the same mistake here... Epic and Sujit Kundu also have some irons in the fire, as TeeFlii’s “24 Hours” sits at #21, and Lil Jon f/Tyga’s “Bend Ova” is at #33, up over 200 spins. Make sure and check out Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot Boy,” which is creating a buzz and impacting this coming week, as well as Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass.” Both of these records could be something for the format… Lee L’Heureux and Warner Bros. have Nico & Vinz’s “Am I Wrong” at #4 on the chart, but it’s inching ever closer to #2. It’ll be a dogfight next week for #1. He also has Partynextdoor f/Drake’s “Recognize,” which is the first release on OVO, Drake’s new label. The record’s already #5 on the iTunes Album Chart and #1 on the R&B chart. Warner Bros. also has Fences f/Macklemore’s “Arrows,” which could be a multi-format hit. Make sure to check it out here… Last but certainly not least, RCA is doing very big things. They have Tinashe f/ScHoolboy Q’s “2 On” at #1, Kid Ink f/Chris Brown’s “Main Chick” at #2 and Magic!’s “Rude” (a multi-format #1) at #7. They also have Chris Brown f/Usher & Rick Ross’ “New Flame” at #27 and up over 360 spins, Becky G’s “Shower” at #38 and Usher f/Nicki Minaj’s “She Came to Give It to You” at #42, up 230 spins. John Strazza, Inca, and Lori G also have Jacob Lattimore f/T-Pain’s “Heartbreak Heard Around the World” and G-Eazy’s “I Mean It” a few weeks away from impacting.
