CROSSOVER
Gary Spangler and Davey Dee at Republic drop a brand new track from Nicki Minaj this week, entitled “Bed of Lies” (YMCMB). The song, which features Skylar Grey, leans much more on the Pop side, and is the perfect ccompaniment to her more Urban-leaning “Only,” which is quickly climbing the charts. Most true Rhythm stations can play both, and Nicki is at the top of her game right now. They also have Ariana Grande & The Weeknd’s Love Me Harder,” which vaults into the Top 10, hitting #8 this week with an increase of 455 spins. In addition, they’ve got Rich Gang f/Young Thug & Rich Homie Quan’s “Lifestyle” (YMCMB) at #9, DJ Khaled f/Chris Brown, ugust Alsina, Future & Jeremih’s “Hold You Down” (YMCMB) at #12, increasing 280 spins, Tove Lo’s “Habits (Stay High)” (Island) at #15, gaining over 400 spins, The Weeknd’s “Often” at #33 and both Nicki Minaj f/Drake, Lil ayne & Chris Brown’s “Only” and Nick Jonas’ “Jealous” (Island) debuting at #34 and #37 respectively. Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” (Big Machine) is sure to chart this coming week, as she’s quickly becoming an artist that hythm radio can and should deal with… Over at Def Jam, Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness are, yet again, the proud owners of two of the biggest records this week. Big Sean’s “IDFWU” (G.O.O.D.) moves #9-6, p 60 spins, and Iggy Azalea f/MO’s “Beg for It” (Grand Hustle) moves #20-16, up 470 spins. They debut August Alsina’s “No Love” this week and have Teyana Taylor’s “Maybe” inside the Top 50. Meanwhile, they also impact udacris f/Miguel’s “Good Lovin” this week… RCA is making the best of their fourth quarter, as John Strazza, Inca and Lori G have Kid Ink f/Usher & Tinashe’s “Body Language” at #13, up triple-digits. A little birdie told me that his earlier single, Main Chick,” was this year’s Mediabase Rhythm Song of the Year. I also heard that RCA’s Chris Brown was named Artist of the Year. They have Mr. Probz’s “Waves” at #25, up 230 spins; this record’s been bubbling under and moving steadily up the chart over the last three months and now has serious momentum. Watch for it to really break out before the holidays and solidify itself as a true hit! Usher f/ Juicy J’s “I Don’t Mind,” up 320 spins, jumps 10 pots to #26 this week, and Tinashe f/A$AP Rocky’s “Pretend” is at #27. G-Eazy’s “I Mean It” continues to build as well, moving #52-47 this week. And Mark Ronson f/Bruno Mars’s “Uptown Funk” was up 250 spins first week, and s a few short weeks away from charting… Columbia’s Ayelet Schiffman and James White have T.I.’s “About the Money” (Grand Hustle) at #19, up 325 spins this week. Calvin Harris sits at #21, and the red-hot Dej Loaf’s “Try Me” limbs #33-28, up 275 spins. I don’t think the year is over for Columbia, as they may have a trick or two up their sleeve with some big artists. Stay tuned… Sujit Kundu and team Epic have Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot Boy” at #17 this eek, up triple-digits. They also have Snootie Wild f/K Camp’s “Made Me” at #42; it should chart next week. Sujit’s impacting Meghan Trainor’s “Lips Are Movin” and Tee Flii’s “Change Your World” next week… Lee L’Heureux has arner Bros. on everyone’s radar with two records inside the Top 10. Jason Derulo’s “Trumpets” climbs #10-6, up 433 spins, and I Love Makonnen f/Drake’s “Tuesday” moves to #10, up 440 spins. He’s impacting BeBe Rexha’s Can’t Stop Drinking About You” this week… Glassnote has Chilidish Gambino’s “Sober” gaining momentum at mixshow, as KSFM Sacramento and WZMX Hartford put it in this week. This is a record that warrants attention, as e’s got a very active fan base.
