CROSSOVER
I had the pleasure of spending the weekend in Las Vegas for the iHeart Radio festival. The outdoor Village stage was on Saturday, and damn, it was hot! Childish Gambino performed a very live and dynamic set. Some of my highlights included Chris Brown coming out to perform “New Flame” with Usher, Nicki Minaj’s entire performance, Taylor Swift kicking off the entire weekend and Macklemore coming out to do “Same Love” with Ed Sheeran. It was surreal to be backstage, watch the artists interact with each other between sets, see what was going to happen before the crowd did and then see their reaction. The parties weren’t too shabby either. It never fails to amaze me how much of an impact music has on people… In regards to the chart, Def Jam has had a lock on the top spot, and they’ll continue to for another week. Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness have Jeremih f/YG’s “Don’t Tell ’Em” head-and-shoulders above the rest, maintaining a 1500+ spin lead over the next competitor. This is becoming one of the biggest records of the year. Not far behind is Iggy Azalea f/Rita Ora’s “Black Widow” at #4. It moves into the Top 5, and was the #1 Greatest Gainer this week. They also have YG’s “Do It to Ya” climbing the charts and looking to debut in the next few weeks, along with Big Sean’s “IDFWU,” which was up almost 200 spins. And they’re impacting Teyana Taylor f/Pusha T & Yo Gotti’s “Maybe” this week… Republic’s Gary Spangler and Davey Dee have two records in the Top 10, with Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” at #5 and Drake’s “0-100” at #10. They also have Jessie J +Ariana Grande + Nicki Minaj’s “Bang Bang” at #15, Rich Gang f/Young Thug & Rich Homie Quan’s “Lifestyle” at #22, up 340 spins, DJ Khaled f/Chris Brown, August Alsina, Future & Jeremih’s “Hold You Down” – the highest debuting track this week – at #33, Kiesza’s “Hideaway” at #36 and Enrique Iglesias f/Descemer Bueno, Sean Paul & Gente De Zona’s “Bailando” at #40. Just under the chart is Kalin & Myles’ “Love Robbery,” and they’re impacting Tove Lo’s “Habits (Stay High)” this week. Needless to say, they’re quite busy… RCA’s John Strazza, Inca and Lori G have their hands full as well. They have Chris Brown f/Usher & Rick Ross’ “New Flame” at #6, Pitbull’s “Fireball” at #34 and Tinashe f/A$AP Rocky’s “Pretend” at #42, increasing 250 spins. They also have Sia’s “Chandelier” at #44 and Kid Ink f/Usher & Tinashe’s “Body Language” at #48. Look for the latter three of those records to debut in the next two weeks… Ayelet Schiffman and James White at Columbia are making their push for the top spot with T.I. f/Iggy Azalea’s “No Mediocre”; it’s at #2 this week, up 280 spins. They also have Beyoncé’s “Flawless” at #19, up over 300 spins, and Calvin Harris f/John Newman’s “Blame” just outside the chart. They impact the new T.I. track, “About the Money,” this week; it’s already #12 at Urban… Sujit Kundu and Epic continue their success with TeeFlii’s “24 Hours,” which moves into the Top 10 this week, up nearly 200 spins. They also have Lil Jon f/Tyga’s “Bend Ova” at #14 and Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” at #16, up 425 spins. Trainor’s smash is also the new #1 record at Top 40 this week. Team Epic also has Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot Boy” at #32, gaining 120 spins. Yo Gotti’s “Errrbody” continues to grow and is a few weeks away from charting… Lee L’Heureux and Warner Bros. continue to grow Jason Derulo’s latest single, “Trumpets,” which is now at #25, up triple-digits. WB also has one of the bigger buzz records out there I LOVE MAKONNEN f/Drake’s “Tuesday.”
