U.K. MIDWEEKS: YOUNG EYES #1
6/24/19

British singer Will Young is heading for #1 on the U.K’s Official Albums chart with his seventh effort overall and first as an independent artist, Lexicon (Cooking Vinyl). Over on singles, Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello and Stormzy are new in the Top 5.

Young, the first-ever Pop Idol winner, released his first five albums on Sony/BMG and the last in 2015 on Island—four of them reached #1 and two reached #2.

Two Door Cinema Club are the second highest new entry at midweek stage with False Alarm (Prolifica) at #3, followed by Mark Ronson’s Late Night Feelings (Columbia) at #5.

Hot Chip’s seventh studio album, A Bath Full of Ecstasy (Domino), starts at #6—the album was co-produced by Paris DJ and producer Philippe Zdar, who died last week.

The Raconteurs are aiming for a third Top 10 with Help Us Stranger (Third Man) at #7 and Hollywood Vampires Rise (Edel) is #9. An album of Prince rarities and demos that later became huge hits for other artists, Originals (Warner Records), is new at #15.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles midweeks, the Mendes and Cabello collaboration “Senorita” (Island) starts at #2.
