A rather lovely song has shot to the top of Spotify’s U.K. Viral Chart by indie act Dodie, “Sick of Losing Soulmates,” thanks to the power of an online following alone. It’s her debut single and will be followed by an EP, Intertwined, on 11/18, which is amongst iTunes' bestselling pre-orders.
Dodie is managed by Josh Edwards, who’s also an A&R at the now Sony-owned Ministry of Sound. Mark Ngui and Jake Leighton-Pope at CAA are looking after live. Negotiations with labels and publishers are early, with distribution going via Ditto.
Promo has been helmed by Dodie, who has built her YouTube channel to over 700k subscribers. She’s been touring and appearing at conventions like Summer in the City, Comic Con and Vidcon, and is currently playing a number of U.S. shows. A sign of the times indeed.
