U.K. CHARTS: GREEN DAY SCORES TRANSATLANTIC #1
10/14/16

Green Day have scored a double coup, hitting #1 in the U.S. and U.K. with Revolution Radio (Warner Bros). The set topped around 30k sales in Blighty, outselling closest competitor, Barry Gibb, by 2:1.

Revolution Radio is the group’s third Official Albums Chart #1 and their first since 2004’s American Idiot. Gibb’s In The Now (RCA) leapfrogged Alter Bridge’s self-released The Last Hero, which finishes the week at #3.

Kaiser Chiefs’ sixth studio album Stay Together (Caroline) has maintained its midweek peak of #4, while last week’s #1, Craig David’s Following My Intuition (Speakerbox), declines to #5. OneRepublic’s Oh My My (Interscope) is new at #6.

Over on the Official Singles list, James Arthur’s “Say You Won’t Let Go” (SYCO) has scored its highest weekly combined sales to date during its third week at #1, selling almost 50k downloads and racking up 5.61m listens—no doubt garnered in part by a homecoming performance on the X Factor on Sunday.

The Chainsmokers f/Halsey’s “Closer” (RCA) is behind at #2 while The Weeknd f/Daft Punk’s “Starboy” (Island) moves down to #3. Ariana Grande f/Nicki Minaj’s “Side To Side” (Island) rises one place to reach a chart peak at #4 and Sia f/Kendrick Lamar’s “The Greatest” (RCA) returns to the Top 5, rising three places to #5. Elsewhere, Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic” (Atlantic) is this week’s highest new singles entry at #9.
